  1. It was surprising to see my work here. Though I would like if you tell me first about featuring my artwork here 🙂

    • Hello Vir Norin,

I’d apologize for not contacting you for permission to post your art, but I have found that to be a thankless task all to often. Mostly because artists don’t respond when contacted. Not to say you wouldn’t have, just most of the ones I contacted in the past didn’t bother to reply. It works far better for me to post worthy material and wait for any response rather than wait for replies that never come and never post material. I always immediately remove art that creators chose not to have posted on Centaurica.

Please know that having your art featured here is a compliment. I have a discerning following and work to post only the best of what I encounter online (that adheres to the manimals-centaurs-equines theme of this blog). Thanks for making the cool art in the first place. I appreciate your work.

      Cheers, Greg

      • Oh, I see now. Sure, no problem. I’m OK if other people share my artwork in their blogs and sites. I found this blog just accidentally hence I wrote in my first comment that it would be nicer if you pointed me to this place after picking my render. BTW did you find this image on my DeviantArt page (which is deactivated right now) or rather in my thread on ZbrushCentral? Just curious.
PS And sorry for my English

  2. I think I found this at Renderocity or from a Pinterest or Tumblr site. I haven’t been to ZBrush Central in a while. I thought it was nice digital work and the design of the centauress was just a bit different from all the others I’ve seen. That intrigued me. Thanks for OK-ing the post.

    Cheers, Greg

PS: Your English is excellent. I’d have had no idea you weren’t a native speaker if you hadn’t mentioned it.

    • Interesting, as far as I know Renderocity is a place where usually renders with premade content is gathered (like from DAZ or Poser) while this was sculpted manually. Probably I should Google my image to find other sites – it is always exciting to see how the artwork spreads around the Internet.

Yeah, I like to break stereotypes so I made her design quite unusual. I also did many researches and theorized a lot about possible centaur muscular and skeletal systems while maintaining the balance between realistic and sexy look. Too sad people mostly didn’t dig it, calling the image tasteless and close to pornographic. But regardless the negative reaction, I hope to make some more sculpts with her in a future. Also, there is very draft turntable animation of her. It is really rough and made as a test but if someone here would like my image I think they would also like the video as a small bonus http://vimeo.com/98846929

PS. Thanks, Yes, I’m Ukrainian, still learning English. And still have big problems with tenses or constructing question sentences 🙂

      • “Tasteless and pornographic” sound like comments uttered by ignorant and prudish people. Just being naked doesn’t automatically engender pornography. I would ignore such comments and continue creating the art that speaks to you. I have experienced the philosophy that giving mythical creatures sexuality is in poor taste, but what is the point of beasts like centaurs if we aren’t admiring their powerfully sensual natures? It’s like being against a sexually suggestive satyr? WTF? The very existence of satyrs implies sexuality. It isn’t much different for centaurs IMHO.

I’ll have to check out the Vimeo video of your rough draft animation and let you know what I think.

Ukraine seems like a place on the verge of a full blown war, but what do I know? We only get the news that our corrupted media feeds us and the truth of the situation is much more complex. The downing of the Malaysian Airlines jetliner hasn’t helped resolve anything. I hope you are far removed from any of the war games being played in your country.

Except for a few small problems with syntax, your grasp of the English language is outstanding. Of course, I believe, it is more important to learn speaking a language proficiently than just reading and writing it. Do you have the opportunity to converse with other English speakers? The chances of my speaking your native tongue are remote. So, reading something you’ve written so well as a second language is very impressive to me.

Cheers and thanks for commenting, Greg

      • Sorry for the late reply. 3D takes all my time so often I have no energy to do something else like writing more or less comprehensive reply on foreign language.
Sure, I ignore comments like this when people simply bashing my works without giving any constructive critique or advise. They are basically useless, as well as comments from “Wow, rly cool” category.

Yeah, it looks like the entire world is going crazy. I’m ashamed of humanity. We live in XXI century but still killing each other because there are a few idiots ruling our countries. And yes, mass media is a separate story. I don’t trust them all and don’t watch TV. I’m absolutely apolitical person, but this days it is harder and harder to stay away from it. There are no war games in my region but who knows… I can be conscripted in every minute. Though I’m not really excited about it: I would definitely defend my family and parents if everything went too bad, but I see no reason why should I risk my own life and join the army which is so badly organized, making this choice almost suicidal.
Oh, I wasn’t meant to turn this conversation into something political. Sorry.

Unfortunately, I have no chances to speak alive with other people in English. I met just a few foreigners during my life (but I believe it will change in future). For now the main source of knowledge is coming from e-mailings with other people or forum conversations. I’m also trying to watch more films or video-tutorials in English. I hope it will help me in future cause for now in my country there are no opportunity to build a career of 3D sculptor and modeler: the game industry isn’t developed and video industry is practically dead.

Thank you too for a kind words. As well as choosing my artwork, it is really flattering 🙂

      • No need for apologies. I seldom expect responses so it’s a pleasure when one happens.

The war machine marches on and helpless citizens get caught up in the machinations of ego maniacs and greedy fools. I suppose leaving your country is close to impossible. Getting a passport and settling elsewhere when most other countries have their own financial problems is unlikely.

It’s a shame there aren’t people there to help you learn to speak English better but, that being said, you write the language very well. I notice a few errors but nothing that makes me miss the point of what you are saying. Only minor inaccuracies.

I hope you’ll make more centaur related art. It would be great to post that to Centaurica, too.

        Cheers,
        Greg
